Northern Iowa Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Firearm Charge

April 11, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Sioux City)– A northern Iowa man pled guilty Thursday to a federal firearm charge. 37-year-old Lawrence Moore of Bode had previously been convicted of armed robbery and aggravated battery in Illinois, prohibiting him from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Evidence presented at the plea hearing showed Moore was involved in negotiations for buying and selling firearms to other people. Federal prosecutors say Moore communicated with an undercover officer in the fall of 2024, attempting to buy or trade or a firearm. A search warrant was executed on Moore’s residence in November of last year resulting in the seizure of a Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol that was found in a mattress. Officers also seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia from the home.

Moore remains in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
