(Langdon)– No injuries were reported in a house fire Friday near Langdon.
The Fostoria Fire Department and Clay County Sheriff’s Office says firefighters were called around 5:20 p.m. Friday to 2575 300th Street. A caller at that location told authorities their house was on fire and that everyone had made it out uninjured.
Upon arriving, Fostoria firefighters found flames coming from the south side of the house and the roof. The Spencer Fire Department was then called for mutual aid. Firefighters were on the scene several hours. They did manage to save the north half of the house. Extensive damage was reported to the south half.
Fostoria Fire Chief Aaron Rutter says it’s believed the fire started in the chimney. He says the State Fire Marshall is checking into that.
The Fostoria and Spencer Fire Departments were assisted on the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Emergency Management, Alliant Energy, the Red Cross and the Spencer Dream Center.
