(West Des Moines)– A lakes area philanthropist is getting some special recognition. Tim Kinnetz is one of six leaders from across Iowa to receive the inaugural Envision Iowa Visionary Leadership Award . It honors those who have shown commitment and vision toward the economic development of the state and their communities through innovation and collaboration with people and culture, business opportunities and infrastructure. Kinnetz and the other award winners will be honored during the Envision Iowa event October 22nd in West Des Moines.
Kinnetz is the founder and chair of the Spirit of Okoboji and started GrapeTree Medical Staffing. He and his spouse, Joren, have contributed over $5 million to various causes in the Iowa Great Lakes. Kinnetz also serves as Chairman of he Spirit of Okoboji overseeing a number of charitable causes. He is also working to develop an indoor sports and entertainment facility. He has committed a lead gift of $10 million to help build “The Glacier” and has purchased land for the project.
