Friends of Lakeside Lab Speaker Series to feature talk by Author Amie Adams Tuesday Evening

June 05, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Wahpeton)– The Friends of Lakeside Lab Speaker Series will feature a talk by author Amie Adams on Tuesday evening.

Adams recently published her first book called “The Observer: The Life and Writings of Bernt Olaf Wolden.

Adams says Wolden was an Emmet County Naturalist:

“It is a book that I wrote and put together in collaboration with the Iowa Master Naturalist program and Emmet County Conservation. Olaf Wolden is a 19th century naturalist who lived in Emmet county and worked in Emmet county and also had associations with the Lakeside Laboratory and a lot of prominent botanists and naturalists of his day. He wrote a newspaper column for the Estherville newspaper for almost 40 years from the 1930’s to the late 1960’s. And So, this book is a short biography of Olaf and his life and work as a naturalist and then it contains a hundred of his nature note articles, a compilation of across those 38 years that gives a glimpse into his life and Iowa natural history and especially northern Iowa and all of the interesting flora and fauna up in that corner of the state.”

Amie Adams will speak at 7:00 o’clock Tuesday evening at Mahan Hall on the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory Campus. The talk is free and open to the public.
