More Details Released Into Incident That Brought Increased Law Enforcement Presence To JCC Schools

April 04, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Jackson, Mn.)– More information is being released into an incident that brought an increased presence of law enforcement Thursday to Jackson County Central Schools. In a statement, Superintendent Barry Schmidt says an investigation determined there had been ongoing verbal altercations between several students over the past two weeks that went unreported until just a couple of days ago. He says unfounded rumors related to the altercations and a potential shooting threat started circulating among some students and that posts based on those rumors were made to social media.

Schmidt says based on their investigation, school officials do not believe there is a credible threat to safety and that there’s no evidence of any threat even being made. Schmidt adds law enforcement has refuted claims regarding the existence of a hit list.

He thanks the individuals who reported the concerns to school administration and law enforcement. Schmidt encourages everyone NOT to post concerns online and social media. Instead, he says those should be reported to school administrators and law enforcement.
