Minor Damage Reported In Shop Fire

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Minor damage was reported in a shop fire this (Thurs.) morning on the west edge of Spirit Lake.

Assistant Fire Chief Pat Daly tells KUOO news Spirit Lake firefighters were called to the scene on Highway 9 west across from Indian Hills around 10:30 a.m.

Daly says some embers from a wood stove that had been dumped into a receptacle a couple of days earlier had been smoldering and suddenly went up in flames. The fire quickly spread to some nearby rags. Daly says firefighters managed to contain the blaze to the area around the trash can and quickly extinguished it. They then ventilated the structure.

No injuries were reported and damage was said to be fairly minimal.

Spirit Lake firefighters were on the scene about 45 minutes.
