Milford Council Votes To Proceed With Lift Station Feasibility Study; Reviews Engineer’s Report On Boji Bay Business Park

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– The Milford city council Monday evening voted to proceed with a study into the feasibility of providing sanitary sewer service to the former Style Craft/Klaussner Furniture property without having to use a privately owned lift station that’s on the property currently.

Those looking to market the property say the presence of the lift station is scaring away potential buyers concerned over the cost of maintaining the equipment. The city doesn’t want to take over the lift station, citing liability concerns.

City Administrator Matt Skaret says it could take a month or longer before the results of the study are known.

In other business, the Milford city council Tuesday reviewed a letter from the city’s engineer regarding a street and infrastructure in the Boji Bay Business Park. Skaret says the report notes that roughly two-thirds of the concrete panels in the street have failed and that the entire length of the street needs to be removed and reconstructed–at the developer’s expense.

City officials are also concerned over the condition of underground utilities in the development and whether or not they were built in accordance to city standards. They’re requesting the developers provide the city documentation.

The council voted to approve the engineer’s report and recommendations.
