Milford City Council Holds Discussion Over Future Of A Park

June 11, 2025

(Milford)– Monday’s Milford City Council meeting included discussion over Calkin’s Park. The park is located in a residential area on the south side of town east of Highway 71. City officials say it was originally platted as a private park specifically for residents living in that area, however the city has been mowing it over the years. The park is pretty much land-locked with minimal access. The city has proposed dividing up the land among the neighboring property owners. But those who were at Monday’s meeting weren’t in favor of that, saying they want to see it continued as a park, saying the city should seek actual ownership of it…

“What I’m getting at here is you’re trying to give it away, there’s nobody here that wants it. Who are you going to give it to?”

The council took no action but opted to form a committee of city council, park board members and neighbors to come up with a recommendation.
