Martin County West To Break Ground On New Pre K-12 Facility May 28th

May 19, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Sherburn, Mn.)– A southern Minnesota school district will break ground next week on a new Pre K-12 facility. Voters in the Martin County West Community School District last year narrowly approved a $64.7 million dollar bond referendum for the project.

Superintendent Cori Reynolds says they’ll be celebrating the beginning of construction with a groundbreaking Wednesday, May 28th at the site of the new building at the current football field in Sherburn…

“You know sometimes I forget how big of a deal this is, but new school buildings do not happen in communities very often. For instance, we’ve been a school district for 36, 37 years, and we’ve never built anything just for the Martin County West Mavericks. This will be our first building project specifically as MCW, so it’s really exciting, a really big deal. We just want to have a big party to mark the occasion and kick off this process with where people are going to start seeing something come out of the ground in the form of this new building.”

Reynolds says students and staff will be on hand for the event, and invites the entire community to attend.
