(Lakefield, Mn.)– Growing conditions so far this season have been ideal, and corn and soybean development continues to rapidly progress. That word from Jim Nesseth of Extended Ag Services of Lakefield…
“Good plant height, there’s some knee-high corn out there and some a little bit smaller, but we’re really on good pace as far as corn development. Soybeans we’re in that first trifoliate just depending on the planting date. Things look really good. I think we’ve got some nice stands now. We’ve had a little bit re-plant here and there but overall good stands, pretty good emergence, good development. Right now we just need some heat units and I think we’re in pretty good shape.”
Nesseth says the same holds true for small grains crops, such as oats. He says the first cutting of hay is now pretty much complete with real good quality.
