Lake Park Woman Sentenced On Federal Meth Charges

November 22, 2014

(Sioux City)– A Lake Park woman has been sentenced in U.S. District Court on federal meth charges.

37-year-old Shelle Brooks was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty in March to one count of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine within a protected location following a prior felony drug conviction, and one count of aiding and abetting the possession with intent to distribute meth following a prior felony drug conviction.

In a plea agreement Brooks admitted that between October 2002 and April 14th 2010 she and others distributed more than 500 grams of methamphetamine with 1,000 feet of the Harris-Lake Park Elementary School in Lake Park. Court documents say Brooks also distributed methamphetamine at a car wash in Sheldon and a residence in North Sioux City, South Dakota.

Brooks has a 2000 felony conviction in Clay county for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and a 2002 conviction in Emmet county for possession of methamphetamine precursors.

In addition to the prison sentence, Brooks must also serve a 20-year term of supervised release.

Brooks is being held in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
