(Estherville)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will give an update April 30th on the restoration of West Swan Lake in Emmet county. It will be held at 5:00 pm in the basement level of the Emmet County Nature Center.
DNR officials say the lake is refilling after being drawn down more than three feet to renovate the fishery last October. They say carp have been removed and the lake has been stocked with 1,500 pre-spawn adult perch and 140,000 northern pike. Pre-spawn adult bluegill and largemouth bass will be stocked in coming weeks.
DNR officials add that with the carp gone, emergent aquatic plants have germinated around the edge of the lake and that there’s been an increase in waterfowl and other migratory birds around the lake.
