Investigation Into Vehicle Fire Lands Two Men In Jail On Drug Charges

(Spencer)– An investigation into a car fire Tuesday evening in Spencer resulted in the arrests of two men on drug charges.

In a press release, Spencer police say they were called around 6:11 pm after getting a report of a vehicle on fire at 503 East 9th Street. Upon arriving and making contact with the homeowner, officers reported smelling marijuana coming from the residence. A search warrant was obtained and executed resulting in the discovery of marijuana, methamphetamine, THC vapes, paraphernalia and cash.

56-year-old Kelly Versluis of Spencer was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver marijuana, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, possession of a controlled substance…methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 55-year-old Gordon Foreman, also of Spencer, was charged with possession of a controlled substance 3rd or subsequent offense…methamphetamine. Both were booked into the Clay County Jail.

The Spencer Fire Department and Clay County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene.
