(Estherville)– Iowa Lakes Community College is expanding academic opportunities for students planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Executive Dean Kyle Norris tells KUOO news ILCC will be launching several new Transfer Major degrees this coming fall…
“For fall we’re rounding out essentially our agricultural offerings in Ag Business, Agronomy and Animal Science, and then we’ll also be able to offer Communications, English, Political Science, and Social Work as Transfer Majors as well. These allow students to essentially have a pre-approved curriculum that they can complete at Iowa Lakes Community College that will be accepted by the Regent universities here in that state of Iowa, so a seamless transition to Iowa, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, depending on the programs offered there.”
Norris says it allows students to stay close to home while also saving on tuition costs the first couple of years. He adds Iowa Lakes Community College works on an ongoing basis with the regent universities on new Transfer Majors…
“So as they get approved and become available we try to determine which ones make the most sense for Iowa Lakes to offer. I’m excited to say that some of these Transfer Majors can also be completed entirely online so a student doesn’t even have to leave their home to be able to complete a few of these Transfer Majors and then be able to transfer to one of the regent institutions. It’s also important to realize some of the private colleges here in the state of Iowa have also started to accept some of these Transfer Majors and we can work with students on their goals and if they have one of those schools in mind we can work with their Transfer Departments to make that happen for them as well.”
