Health Officials: Still Not Too Late To Get A Flu Shot

(Milford)– If you haven’t gotten your flu shot yet and you think it’s too late now to get one, think again. Now through December 10th has been designated “National Influenze Vaccination Week”.

Cyndy Powers, Dickinson County Public Health Manager, says the rate of flu vaccinations typically drops off quickly after the end of November because many people believe getting vaccinating after that time is too late. But she that’s isn’t the case…Click here to hear mp3 file

And by getting your shot now, Powers says there will still be enough time for the vaccine to kick in to protect you during the holidays, a key period when viruses are spread.

When it comes to the percentage of people getting vaccinated for the flu, Powers says that can be hard to track because the vaccine is available at places other than public health of physician offices…Click here to hear mp3 file
