Governor Names Replacement For Chief Judge Rosemary Sackett On Court Of Appeal

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– Governor Terry Branstad has named District Judge Thomas Bower of Cedar Falls to the Iowa Court of Appeals.

Branstad appointed Bower on Thursday. He was one of three nominees selected from a pool of 18 candidates by the Judicial Nominating Commission in November.

The 50-year-old Bower received his law degree from Drake University and is Chief Judge in Iowa’s First Judicial District, which covers 11 counties in northeast Iowa.

Bower will fill a vacancy on the Appeals Court created by the retirement of Chief Judge Rosemary Sackett in January.
