Gov. Kim Reynolds Announces She Won’t Seek Another Term

April 11, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Des Moines)– Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is making a decision about her political future…

“I have decided that I will not seek re-election in 2026. This wasn’t an easy decision because I love this state and I love serving you.”

She made the announcement on social media this morning…

“Family is everything. And through the years my parents and my husband, Kevin, our daughters and our grandchildren have stood by my side and now it’s time for me to be there for them.”

Governor Reynolds says she’s not running for re-election, but her job as Iowa’s governor isn’t done just yet…

“Now that doesn’t mean that I’m slowing down just yet. I’ll be working hard for you every single day until my term ends and ensuring that every Iowan has the opportunity to succeed.”

Reynolds first served as a State Senator, before being elected as Lieutenant Governor under former Governor Terry Branstad. She became Governor in 2017 and was re-elected twice.
