(Milford)– Good news for motorists traveling Highway 71 between Highway 18 north of Spencer, or the North “Y”, and Milford.
The Iowa Department of Transportation has bumped up the re-surfacing of that stretch of Highway 71. It’s now scheduled for this coming construction season. A bid letting is set for April.
DOT Commissioners last month approved an amendment to the agency’s 2012-2016 construction program, bumping the Highway 71 resurfacing up to the upcoming construction season.
D.O.T officials say it was made possible due to additional funding from the Federal Government and because of favorable lettings.
Dickinson County Engineer Dan Eckert informed the board of supervisors of the development at their meeting this (Tues.) morning.
Eckert says there likely will be delays while the project is going on this summer, as traffic on the four-lanes will be limited to two lanes, with head-to-head traffic through the construction zone.
