Corridor Announces Winners Of Homegrown Talent Initiative

April 28, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation has announced the two grant award winners for the Homegrown Talent Initiative. They are Callan Hinn, a Spirit Lake native who moved back to the area after becoming a nurse; and Taylor Krager, a Peterson native who recently moved to Lakeside after attending Buena Vista University where she graduated last year. Krager works as a Customer Experience Specialist at Farm Credit Services of America in Storm Lake. Each will receive $6,000 paid over four years to help with student loan repayment, mortgage payments or childcare reimbursement.

The Homegrown Talent Initiative encourages former students of the region’s schools to move back to the Corridor.

22 applications were received for this year’s program. The applications were scored by a committee with the top 6 invited back for one-on-one interviews to determine the two winners.
