(Spencer)– An investigation into a complaint from an unknown man from Texas stating that someone was working in Spencer using his identity has resulted in the arrest of a Worthington, Minnesota man.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report on January 13th from a man in Texas stating that someone had stolen his personal information and had used it to obtain a job in the Spencer area. The victim reported he has never even been to Spencer before.
Upon investigating, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Pablo Lorenzo Barrera of Worthington. It was determined that Barrera had allegedly been using the man’s identity for two years.
Barrera was arrested at a Spencer residence and was booked into the Clay county jail on charges of identity theft…a class “D” felony; and tampering with records…an aggravated misdemeanor.
