(Estherville)– Some changes are coming to the garbage pickup schedule in Estherville. The City Council Monday approved the change based on a recommendation from the city’s Finance Committee. City Administrator Penny Clayton says efficiencies with the city’s new automated collection system is making the change possible…
The change goes into effect Tuesday, May 6th.
Clayton says recycling will still be picked up the same day as garbage.
On a related note, there will NOT be a citywide cleanup day in Estherville this year. Clayton told the council the Finance Committee found it not to be feasible any longer…
Clayton says some of the junk was simply changing hands and would wind up somewhere else in the city, resulting in even more costs to clean up those properties under the city’s nuisance ordinance.
Clayton says it will still be possible for residents to get rid of things such as old appliances, furniture, and other items by making arrangements with city hall for a special pickup. She says there will be a fee for that, however.
