(Windom, Mn.)– Authorities in southwest Minnesota are investigating a fatal head-on crash that happened late Friday afternoon north of Windom, in Cottonwood county. Multiple fatalities were reported, with others seriously injured.
The Minnesota State Patrol says GMC Terrain SUV was being driven northbound by a 67-year-old man from Springfield, Minnesota and a 2019 Ford Transit van was southbound. It was being driven by a 42-year-old man from Lakefield. No names have been released yet.
Troopers say there were 12 passengers in the transit van, ranging in age from 19 to 73, all from Jackson and Lakefield.
Again no names or other details have yet been released. We’ll pass them along once they’re released.
The Cottonwood and Redwood County Sheriff’s Offices assisted on the scene along with fire departments from Windom, Lamberton, Westbrook and Springfield. An ambulance from North Aircare also responded to the scene.
The collision took place around 4:42 pm.
