(Okoboji)– Demolition of a historic and iconic building on the north side of Smith’s Bay of West Lake Okoboji has been underway the past couple of days. Okoboji Boats has been a landmark on that stretch of shoreline. The business dates back all the way to 1890, when the marina originally opened, catering at that time to steam boats.
The business has seen a number of owners over the years, including most recently Butch and Debbie Parks, who sold OBW this past winter.
Plans call for single family homes to be built at the location.
