(Alpha, Mn.)– The Alpha, Minnesota Fire Department holds a major fundraiser this weekend. Chief Adam Weets says they’ll be holding their annual pulled pork meal tomorrow (Saturday) from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm at the fire station…
“We have a few new recruits on and so this benefit, this fundraiser, helps fund new equipment and new turnout gear for the new firefighters. It’s an all day event that kind of covers lunch and supper so it’s a great day to come get some pulled pork.”
Weets says the Alpha Fire Department has 15 members and that their call volume is brisk, even though they’re a small department…
“We’re a small department but we’re a busy little department being on the interstate and so we get a lot of car accidents, some medical calls as well so yeah, we do a little bit of everything. We’re excited to be able to help people, that’s our number one goal, is to help people.”
Admission for Saturday’s event is by a freewill donation. The pork is provided by New Fashion Pork and prepared by Smokin’ Java.
