A Well Known Lakes Area Golf Course Will Be Changing Hands

April 10, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– A well known golf course in the Iowa Great Lakes will be coming under new ownership in a few years from now. In a video on Facebook, Nick Christensen has confirmed he’s entered an agreement with current owners Randy and Molly Rohlfsen to purchase Emerald Hills Golf Course over the next three to five years…

“Emerald Hills couldn’t be in a better spot right now with everything; the membership, the direction the course is going, you name it. Emerald Hills is doing good. It’s been a life long dream of mine to get into the golf industry.”

Christensen currently works in the insurance division at Bank Midwest. While there’s a lot he’s going to miss with that, Christensen says he’s also excited about his new venture…

“If this wasn’t such a good opportunity I wouldn’t leave at all. I love everybody I work with. I thank all of the people the last six years that have given me a chance to trust them with their insurance needs. I do appreciate it. I’m sorry to be leaving you this way but like I said when something this big falls into your lap, you pursue it.”

Christensen says he plans to operate Emerald Hills in the same manner it has been…

“I know how Emerald works, I know how the community works. I’m excited.”

Christensen says he plans to stay on as the assistant coach of boys golf for Spirit Lake.
