(Spencer)– A former longtime Spencer Fire Chief has passed away. Doug Duncan served on the Spencer Fire Department 27 years. His tenure saw a number of milestones for the department, including the purchase of Spencer’s first aerial truck. Duncan also oversaw the expansion of the fire station and implementation of EMS service within the department.
A post on the department’s Facebook page says members of the Spencer Fire Department extend their deepest sympathy and condolences to Chief Duncan’s family, friends, and those who served alongside him.
It goes on to say his service will remain part of the history of the Spencer Fire Department and the fire service community.
