Post 130 takes third place in Luverne

The Jackson American Legion baseball team went 2-1 this weekend to finish third place at the Luverne Junior Legion Tournament.
Post #130 routed Luverne 12-1 in four innings at Redbird Field on Friday.
Josh Thompson tossed four strikeouts while allowing the only run on one hit plus one walk in four innings. He also doubled, walked, and scored a run.
Mason Helmers and Braxsten Hall each scored three runs for Post 130. Helmers had a single, a pair of walks, and stole twice in the lead-off spot. Hall hit a single as well. Dalton Wilking and Holden Stumpf each scored twice. Wilking doubled and singled. Stumpf singled and walked aboard. Jack Hargan doubled, stole a base, and scored.
Jackson lost to Marshall 8-0 in five innings on Saturday.
Levi Thompson got the start and had a trio of strikeouts and a pair of walks. He allowed six runs in three innings. Logan Bretzman and Laiton Jorgenson also pitched for Post 130. Hall registered their only hit while Wilking and Bretzman each walked aboard.
Jackson earned third place by beating the Sioux Falls Vandals 8-4 on Sunday.
Helmers had a pair of doubles, a single, and scored twice. Wilking hit a single, walked, and scored twice. Hall walked twice and scored twice. Levi Thompson doubled, walked, and scored once. Carter Steenstra walked and scored once.
Wilking started on the mound and dealt a pair of strikeouts and walks. He allowed three runs on five hits in the first six innings. Jorgenson closed out the win by allowing just one run and one walk.
Post 130 is 2-2 overall and has the home opener against Slayton on Monday.
