The Martin County West football team welcomes state-ranked Cleveland for a Senior Night showdown on Tuesday.
The 6-1 Mavericks carry a five-game winning streak and 130-0 combined score in Trimont into the last game of the regular season. The MCW offense and defense are both rated sixth in Class A.
The Mavericks are allowing eight points per game and posted their fifth shutout of the season last Wednesday. Maddex Faber had a record-setting day passing with 322 yards and six touchdowns in the air. The Mavericks are looking to stay balanced with their sixth-rated offense scoring 43 points per game. Cleveland will be the biggest challenge since the lone Mavericks loss of the season against state-ranked Mayer Lutheran.
The state-ranked Clippers are 7-0 overall. They beat the Crusaders by four touchdowns two weeks ago but still rank slightly lower in the QRF. The second-rated Cleveland defense is allowing five points per game and hasn’t allowed double-digit scoring since the season opener with a trio of shutouts on the year. The Clippers offense is scoring 36 points on average. Both teams rank within the top eight in Class A in point differential.
