The top-ranked Martin County West softball team rallied to a walk-off win over Fairmont at home on Friday.
The Mavericks outlasted the Cardinals 4-3 after Rowan Faber scored when Ida Rohman’s ground ball to the shortstop was thrown away at third base.
Fairmont took the 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Courtney Anderson hit a two-run double in the fourth that scored Lillie Schultz and Maddie Carlson to rally the Mavericks to their first lead at 2-1 MCW. Bailey Larson added her own RBI single that plated Anderson to make it 3-1 MCW.
The Cardinals tied it with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh.
Faber doubled aboard and Schultz hit her second single before the error that sent everybody home.
MCW pitchers struck out nine and walked a pair.
The 21-1 Mavericks have won 13 straight games entering the postseason. MCW awaits the winner of Tuesday’s JWP vs. Springfield game and will play on Thursday at home on Xtreme.
