The third-ranked Martin County West softball team made quick work of Madelia on the road Friday.
The Mavericks brought home the 16-0 win over the Blackhawks in four innings.
Maddie Carlson had a trio of hits including a double and batted in four runs. She also tossed seven strikeouts in three innings of work from the circle. Sydney Clow had one strikeout during a clean fourth inning as well.
Courtney Anderson smacked a three-run home run. Emily Schettler had a pair of hits. Bailey Larson brought home three runs on one hit. Stella Rohman had one hit and one RBI.
The 14-1 Mavericks have won six straight games. MCW is headed to the Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Tournament on Saturday.
The Mavericks begin at 11:15 against MACCRAY. The 6-9 Wolverines have lost three straight games. MCW will play Lakeview at 1:00 p.m. and the Lakers have lost four of their last six.
The other pool features RRC/WWG, Yellow Medicine East, and Dawson/Boyd. The 2-12 Chargers have lost seven straight games. The Sting has an 11-4 overall record after winning seven straight games. The 2-10 Blackjacks have lost four straight games.
