The Martin County West baseball team pulled away from winless Nicollet on the road Thursday.
The Mavericks beat the Raiders 15-5 in six innings.
Kade Fennern tossed 10 strikeouts during his win on the mound. He allowed five runs with two of them earned on five hits and dealt four walks.
MCW jumped out to a 4-0 lead when Brock Jagodzinske walked home with the bases loaded, Talon Ebeling singled to score Liam Pytleski and Maddex Faber, and Preston Cepress scored on one of the five Nicollet errors. The Mavericks added another pair in the second when Noah Meixell scored on a wild pitch and Jagodzinake came home on a Faber flyout. MCW had another trio in the third after Kaleb Kennedy scored on a wild pitch and a two-run single by Michael McCorkell plated Jagodzinske and Meixell.
The Raiders scored twice in the bottom of the third.
Ebeling doubled to score Pytleski and Cepress in the fourth. Nicollet scored one more in the home half.
Caiden Loken tagged up and scored on a Cepress fly out in the fifth. The Raiders scored twice in the bottom frame.
Landen Winter scored on an RBI single by Meixell and another single by McCorkell helped plate Meixell and Colsan Anderson in the sixth before MCW closed out the run-rule victory.
The 3-10 Mavericks visit St. James on Friday. The 9-6 Saints have won three of their last five games. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m. at Veterans Field.
