The Martin County West baseball team lost the regular season finale to Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop at home on Tuesday.
The Firebirds beat the Mavericks 12-1 in five innings.
Michael McCorkell earned one of his two walks and scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth. He also stole three bases. Brock Jagodzinske, Preston Cepress, and Talon Ebeling had the other Mavericks hits. Easton Kuehl walked once as well.
Caiden Loken took the loss on the mound after a pair of strikeouts and six walks. He allowed five earned runs on three hits. Colsan Anderson, Ian Matejka, and Noah Meixell also pitched for MCW.
The 3-15 Mavericks begin the Section 2A Tournament on Thursday.
