MAVERICKS CRUISE TO RRC/WWG TOURNAMENT TITLE

The third-ranked Martin County West softball team brought home the Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Tournament championship on Saturday.
The Mavericks went 3-0 with wins over MACCRAY, Lakeview, and Yellow Medicine East.
Sydney Clow started the day with a perfect game as MCW blanked the Wolverines 19-0 in four innings.
Clow tossed six strikeouts during her perfect game. Courtney Anderson went 4-for-4, smacked a home run and double, and batted in seven runs.
Rowan Faber had a pair of hits including a double, plated a run, and scored twice. Maddie Carlson doubled, plated a run, and walked three times. Carlson, Anderson, Lillie Schultz, and Ida Rohman each scored three runs.
MCW beat Lakeview 9-2 in the second game of the day.
Carlson hit a three-run homer and Anderson hit a two-run homer to power the Mavericks offense. Carlson also struck out 12 Lakers in the circle.
Ida Rohman went 3-for-3, plated a run, and scored three times. Bailey Larson had a pair of hits including a double and plated a pair of runs.
MCW took down The Sting 8-1 in the championship game.
Carlson struck out eight batters in four shutout innings. Clow finished off the final pair of innings in the circle.
Larson went 3-for-3 with a double. Emily Schettler doubled twice and batted in three runs. Lillie Schultz had a pair of doubles and plated a pair of runs. Ida Rohman brought home a pair of runs as well.
The 17-1 Mavericks have won nine straight games. They visit top-ranked United South Central on Monday. The defending Class A champion Rebels are 14-1 after sandwiching a pair of seven-game win streaks around their only loss to state-ranked Randolph so far this season.
