Huskies truly begin quest to be “Back For More”

The Jackson County Central softball team begins the postseason quest to be “Back For More” on Tuesday.
The Huskies are the top South seed in the Section 3AA Tournament and will host a pair of games. The #4 Redwood Valley Cardinals and #5 Minneota/Canby Vikings play each other at 4:00 p.m. with the Huskies scheduled to play the winner at 5:30 p.m.
JCC head coach Morgan Christopher says they expect to compete for the state championship again.
The 21-1 Huskies dominated St. Peter for their 18th straight win and first Big South Conference championship ever on Friday. They finished the regular season 9-0 in section play. JCC is ranked second in the latest Class AA coaches poll and landed at 21st in the latest Minnesota Top 25 statewide ranking from Strib Varsity. The only Huskies loss this season is to top-ranked unbeaten Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 1-0 on April 16 at home. JCC is 6-0 against other state-ranked teams.
The Cardinals are 10-11 overall with a 6-6 section record and a 2-0 mark at neutral sites. JCC swept a home doubleheader against Redwood Valley with a pair of run-rule victories on May 7 in Jackson.
The 18-6 Vikings are the Camden Conference champions. They carry a 2-5 section record and 1-1 neutral mark into the postseason after playing mostly Class A teams in the regular season.
The Cardinals swept the Vikings in a doubleheader on May 1 at home. The Huskies ended the Vikings season in their most recent meeting during the 2023 postseason.
We will have coverage of the full Huskies tournament journey on KKOJ.
The rest of the tournament will happen at the Schwann’s Regional Amateur Sports Complex in Marshall beginning on Saturday. The semifinal round takes place next Tuesday and the championship round is on Thursday.
