The Jackson County Central softball team advanced past Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta to the Section 3AA Tournament championship on Tuesday in Marshall.
The Huskies pulled away to a 6-1 victory over the Tigers in the semifinal round and now stand alone as the only unbeaten team in the bracket.
Cora Pauling singled aboard, stole second and third base, and scored on a wild pitch to put JCC ahead 1-0 after the top of the first inning.
The Tigers tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second.
The Huskies took control in the third when Bailey Finck sent a three-run home run over the center field fence to make it 4-1 JCC.
Braelyn Boogerd doubled to score Brielle Tufvesson in the fifth and BT scored again in the sixth on a Kinley VanDeVere RBI single.
Hadley Wachal picked up the win with five strikeouts while allowing the only run on two hits plus four walks in four innings of work. Mady Wachal pitched three innings of one-hit shutout relief with five strikeouts and two walks.
The 24-1 Huskies have won 21 straight games and need just one more victory to be “Back For More” in the State Tournament.
Pipestone Area eliminated New London-Spicer 6-2 and the Tigers 7-1 to earn the right to play JCC for the section title. The Arrows have to beat the Huskies twice for a trip to the State Tournament.
