The Jackson County Central softball team overcame Mankato East on the road for a 15th straight victory on Monday.
The Class AA Huskies rallied and pulled away from the Class AAA Cougars 8-3 in a clash of fourth-ranked teams.
Mankato East took the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Bailey Finck singled to score Kinley VanDeVere and Cora Pauling for two of her five runs batted in and gave JCC the 2-1 lead in the third.
The Cougars hit a two-run home run for a 3-2 lead.
Finck doubled to score Kinley VanDeVere again in the fifth and tie the game.
JCC took a 5-3 lead in the sixth when Miley VanDeVere and Braelyn Boogerd scored on an error. Kinley VanDeVere added a solo home run in the seventh. Finck finished off the day with a two-run homer that also scored Cora Pauling as well.
Hadley Wachal went the distance and tossed 13 strikeouts while scattering five hits to quiet the Cougars.
Next up for the 18-1 Huskies is a visit to Fairmont. The 14-4 Cardinals had a seven-game win streak snapped on Saturday and lost to JCC 15-3 on the road April 21. Tuesday’s first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
