The Jackson County Central volleyball team is hosting a state-ranked showdown with Mayer Lutheran for Senior Night on Thursday.
The Huskies are ranked #8 in Class AA and the Crusaders are ranked #4 in Class A in the latest polls from the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association.
JCC is 4-1 overall with four wins in a row since losing the season opener against state-ranked Sioux Falls Christian of South Dakota. The Class of 2027 features seven seniors: Paylin Sether, Zoey Hall, Mady Wachal, Miley VanDeVere, Braelyn Boogerd, Julia Bidne, and Aubrey Erickson.
Huskies head coach Deidre Wierson says this class does a lot of the little things that help the program at all levels.
Mayer Lutheran is 5-6 overall but has played against programs from all four classes with a majority of them at least receiving votes in the coaches polls.
The Crusaders have won five Class A championships in the past 10 years with seven appearances in the title match and a three-peat is possible this year.
Coach Wierson says one of the keys to the Crusaders’ long-term success is being extremely resilient.
