The Jackson County Central softball team dominated the state-ranked showdown in St. Peter on Friday to win their first Big South Conference championship.
The Huskies hit five home runs during their 18-6 victory over the Saints in five innings. It’s the first conference title win since 2006 and seventh in school history for JCC.

Bailey Finck smacked a two-run homer and solo shot to go with a double as she batted in three runs and scored three times. Braelyn Boogerd launched a three-run homer as part of her 4-RBI day and she scored twice. Miley VanDeVere had a solo smash and a pair of doubles during her own 4-RBI day where she also scored three times. Mady Wachal went yard as well during her three-hit day while plating a pair and scoring twice. She also tossed seven strikeouts during her four innings of work in the circle.
Brielle Tuffvesson had a trio of hits including a double, brought a pair of runs home, and scored three times. Kinley VanDeVere had three hits including a double, batted in a run, and scored twice. Hadley Wachal collected three hits and scored twice. Clara Brinks sacrificed a run home as well.
Kelcie Sillman pitched three strikeouts to retire the side in the fifth.
JCC collected 20 hits, six doubles, and 10 K’s during their 18th straight victory.
The 21-1 Huskies begin the Section 3AA Tournament at home on Tuesday as the top South seed against either Redwood Valley or Minneota/Canby at 5:30 on KKOJ.
