Huskies and Tigers collide for Big South pride

The Jackson County Central volleyball team welcomes Marshall for a top-five clash across classes in the Big South Conference championship match on Thursday night.

The 20-7 Huskies are ranked fifth in the latest Class AA poll from the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association. They are the Gold division champion with a perfect 7-0 record against those Big South opponents.

The Huskies finished in a three-way tie with Windom and Marshall for the Big South title in 2016. They took home back-to-back Southwest Conference titles in 2009 and 2010 by going unbeaten in conference play.

The 22-5 Tigers are ranked second in Class AAA and went 7-0 as Black division champions in the Big South. Marshall is seeking a 15th straight conference title and looking to remain the only program with at least a share of every volleyball championship in Big South history.

Both of these programs moved into the Big South in 2014 from the Southwest Conference.

We expect to begin our coverage at 7:15 with the first serve scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on KKOJ Radio and Explore Live Video.
