Bulls Drop to 3rd Place Series, Still Have Shot at State

The Region 10C semifinal playoffs in the Minnesota Baseball Association featured a pair of winner-take-all games on Sunday.
The Fairmont Martins pulled away from the Jackson Bulls for a 9-3 victory in Game 3 and the 2-1 series win at Herb Wolf Field.
Fairmont scored first for a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Tyler Netsch singled for the Bulls in the third. The Martins added three more runs in the fourth. Chris Gumto and Carter Snyder each singled before Alex Bretzman doubled in the first Bulls run in the fifth. Bretzman doubled before a Will Larson sac fly and a Cael Miller double in the sixth to make it 4-3 Martins. Fairmont scored five more runs in the sixth to make the final score. Bretzman singled in the seventh.
The Windom Pirates beat the Luverne Redbirds 9-3 at Island Park for a second straight win to steal that series back.
The Pirates and Martins will play for the Region 10C championship with both teams going to State. The Bulls and Redbirds clash for 3rd Place with only the winner going to State.
Both of those best-of-three series begin on Wednesday night.
