Big South Conference honors eight Huskies

A season-high eight members of the conference champion Jackson County Central softball team are getting postseason recognition from the Big South.
Huskies seniors Bailey Finck and Hadley Wachal are joined by junior Mady Wachal and freshman Kinley VanDeVere on the Gold All-Conference Team.
Finck graduated as the all-time and single-season JCC leader in home runs, runs batted in, hits, and total bases. She posted a .583 batting average with 56 hits including 18 doubles and three triples plus 59 RBIs and 13 homers after starting every game at catcher or shortstop. Hadley Wachal went 13-1 in the circle and led the team with a 1.30 ERA and 134 strikeouts. She also posted a .358 batting average, 24 hits including six doubles and a pair of home runs with 18 RBIs. Mady Wachal went 11-1 in the circle with an ERA of 1.35 and led the team with 135 strikeouts. She also batted .378 with 31 hits including 11 doubles, a triple, and three home runs plus 28 RBIs. Kinley VanDeVere set new school records with 41 runs scored and 38 stolen bases this season. She batted .400 with 36 hits including 11 doubles, one triple, and a pair of homers plus 17 RBIs.
Honorable Mentions went to sophomore Cora Pauling, junior Brielle Tufvesson, fellow junior Miley VanDeVere, and senior CJ Pauling.
Cora Pauling batted .418 with 38 hits, five doubles, and a triple plus 11 RBIs. Tufvesson batted .368 with 28 hits including 10 doubles, a triple, and a homer with 25 RBIs. Miley VanDeVere batted .354 with 28 hits including nine doubles and a pair of homers with 23 RBIs. CJ Pauling posted a .289 average with 11 hits including a pair of doubles plus seven RBIs.
The Huskies went undefeated in conference play and captured their first Big South title with a five-inning 18-6 victory in St. Peter on May 17.
