#Alltheway Still in Tact for Mavericks

At the beginning of the season the Martin County West softball team posted #alltheway on their Instagram page and Thursday night they started the journey. After receiving a bye in the first round, the Mavericks softball team opened up Section 2A play with a 7 to 0 win over Janesville Waldorf Pemberton. Maddie Carlson pitched 6 innings and recorded 12 strikeouts, gave up one hit and 0 walks. Syd Clow came in for the top of the 7th to shut the door on the Bulldogs. Clow forced the Bulldogs into two ground outs before recording a strikeout to end the game.

Addy Wohlhuter led the Mavericks at the plate by going 3 for 3 with an RBI and scored a run. Lilly Schultz went 2 for 4 with two RBI’s after hitting 2 doubles. Carlson helped her cause on the mound by going 1 for 3 with an RBI. Ida Rohman and Stella Rohman both had one hit and one RBI on the day. Lyla Simonson started on the mound for the Bulldogs. She pitched 3 innings, gave up 3 runs on 4 hits with 2 earned runs. Ryleigh Donner came in for the bottom of the 4th. She gave up 4 runs on 4 hits, walked 3 and had one strikeout.

The Mavericks head to Caswell Park in Mankato on Saturday for a 10:00 AM matchup against Cleveland. Win or lose they will play again at noon. The Clippers defeated Sleepy Eye Public 12 to 2 on Thursday and are the only team to hand the Mavericks a loss during the regular season.
