HUSKIES HANG ON IN HOME RETURN

The Jackson County Central baseball team made the most of a return to Wacker Field on Friday.

The day began with ceremonial first pitches by former head coach Mike Wierson and former pitcher Brett Rossow along with remembrance of the recent Iowa Lakes baseball and highway accident tragedies.

Talan Holm delivered his third complete-game performance of the season and the Huskies slammed the door shut on a late Redwood Valley comeback attempt to end the special day with a 5-3 victory. This came after the Cardinals beat JCC 16-0 just one night before to finish off a six-game Huskies road swing.

Huskies head coach Easton Bahr says they have a different confidence when their ace is dealing.

Holm collected seven strikeouts while scattering four hits to go with one walk.

JCC built a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Ryan Fricke started the fun with a two-run single to score Haiden Warmka and Isaac Hesebeck. Kasey Storm later scored on a sacrifice RBI by Jace Jorgenson and Fricke came to the plate on a wild pitch.

Storm scored on another wild pitch in the fourth to make it 5-0 JCC. Storm walked twice and eventually scored both times.

The Cardinals took advantage of a couple of Huskies miscues to score a trio of runs during their final chance in the top of the seventh but JCC survived.

Ben Gallagher led off the Huskies day offensively with a double and walked aboard the other three times he appeared at the plate.

Warmka, Hesebeck, and Joshua Thompson each hit a single.

The 4-5 Huskies continue a three-game homestand against Blue Earth Area on Tuesday.
