Winter Women in Nature Day

January 3, 2024 – 9:00am-3:00pm – Oneota Park

Conservation Board, Dickinson County Conservation Board, ISU Extension and Outreach of Dickinson and Clay counties, and Iowa Lakeside Laboratory. The program was initiated as a result of wanting to offer
local women the opportunity to learn useful outdoor skills, to get to know other like-minded women, and to have fun outdoors together.
The following sessions will be offered at the event, and registrants may choose one from each of the session times.

Maple Syruping or Paint and Sip at 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Learn about maple syruping and the tools required to make this delicious and sweet product, or you can paint some winter scenery while sipping on some seasonal adult beverages (you must be 21 or older to sample alcoholic beverages).

Shelter Building or Nature’s Art Box at 10:40 – 11:40 a.m.
The elements can be unforgiving, and sheltering yourself is an important skill to have in your back pocket. Alternatively, learn how to incorporate natural materials into your DIY crafting by creating a few make-and-takes.

Ice Fishing or Snowshoe Walk and Animal Tracking Adventure – 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Drive out to Scharnberg Park to get on the ice and gain some “reel” winter fishing knowledge, or adventure through the snow on a guided tour to discover animal tracks and signs.

Lunch and a stainless-steel water bottle are included with the registration fee of $25. Please register online under the Programs/Events page at www.dickinsoncountynaturecenter.com by 5:00 p.m.
