WINTER NO SCHOOL CAMP

January 15, 2024 – 9AM-3PM – Horseshoe Bend

No school? We have you covered! If you have a 5th-8th grader off from school, register for Winter No School Camp hosted by the Dickinson County Conservation Board. The camp will be held on January 15th from 9 AM to 3 PM at Horseshoe Bend. Environmental Education Coordinator Danika Cox looks forward to attendees creating shelters, learning about survival
skills, and learning how animals survive harsh, snowy conditions. Cox said, “I always love to see kids get creative when they are given a survival-related task. They really put themselves in that situation in their minds and ask themselves, ‘What would I do if this was really happening to me’?”

She included, “This is a great opportunity for kids to spend some time with their friends outside of school in a fun and safe learning environment and get the chance to maybe meet a few new people,” Cox stated, adding that kids usually enjoy learning outdoors instead of a confining classroom.

Register your child by going to www.dickinsoncountynaturecenter.com under Events/Programs. The cost is only $15, and children must be brought to Horseshoe Bend at 9 AM. A hat, gloves, boots, coat, snow pants, and any additional winter clothing are required. Please send a sack lunch and a filled reusable water bottle with each child; the education team will provide two snacks.
