WILD Roots Annual Kickoff

Teens, ages 13-18, are invited to kick off a new season of WILD Roots with an evening focused on hunting, trapping and conservation-minded skills at the Dickinson County Nature Center.

Wilderness Inspired Leadership Development (WILD) Roots is designed to give teenagers opportunities
to connect with nature and with one another while exploring outdoor recreation, conservation and land
stewardship. Through the program, teens can build friendships, learn new skills and develop leadership
qualities.

The first event of the season will be held Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Dickinson County
Nature Center.

This season’s theme is Conservation, and during the first session, teens will have opportunities to learn
about and practice setting traps as well as use air rifles in a safe, supervised training area. Activities will
emphasize safety, responsible handling, and practical outdoor skills.

In addition to attending WILD Roots events throughout the year, participating teens may have
opportunities to volunteer at designated Dickinson County Nature Center programs. These experiences
allow teens to gain firsthand exposure to conservation education while building leadership,
responsibility and other valuable skills.
