SHOW SYNOPSIS: Painting Churches straddles the line between situation comedy and soaring prose. A story of complicated family dynamics will stay with you long after the curtain comes down. A finalist for the 1984 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Tina Howe’s “Painting Churches,” is an award-winning portrait of an artist and her aging parents. It has been called “Beautifully written … A theatrical family portrait that has the shimmer and depth of Renoir portraits.” The cast for Painting Churches includes Resident Actor Rob Doyen, guest artist Cheryl Black and Stephens student Jesse Graham Galas.

The Okoboji Summer Theatre is a working professional summer stock theatre company. Theatre students from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri, are joined with professional artists, actors, and directors from around the country to present seven mainstage productions and two Boji Bantam Children’s Theatre productions. This is their 64th summer at Okoboji.
