Many Voices Choir to present Christmas Concert

Saturday, December 2, 2023 – 1:30 PM – St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, IA

Under the direction of Timothy Schumacher, this year’s program “Sing We Now of Christmas” will feature classical, traditional, gospel and jazz selections. Following the tradition of choral excellence and creative programming, the choir will present concerts in three different venues in the area. Various soloists and instrumentalists will be featured including the artistry of their accompanist, DJ Gommels. 

“Sing We Now of Christmas” concerts will also take place 7:30pm in Spirit Lake at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Admission is free and a free will offering is appreciated. 

The concert begins with Prophecy and Nativity sections and ends with selections of Praise and Celebration. Highlights will include an exciting setting of the timeless carol, “O Come, All Ye Faithful” adapted from the hit Pentatonix version, a spirited gospel piece, “Jesus, Oh What a Wonderful Child” featuring soloist Jeff Griffith, and Handel’s “Hallelujah” from “The Messiah” will provide a powerful end to the concert. “I am excited to share this beautiful program sung by these musicians who are so devoted to the art of choral singing,” states Schumacher, the choir’s long-time conductor and artistic director. 

The Many Voices Community Choir has been performing together since 1988. It is a 40-60 member chorale with members from over 15 communities in northwest Iowa and southern Minnesota. Nancy Diekman, a longtime member, reflects, “Singing with the Many Voices Choir draws my creativity and feeds my soul. The Christmas concert is an inspirational way to start the holiday season.”
