Howlin’ Halloween Hike – Spooky Sidekicks

Families are invited to enjoy an entertaining night at the Dickinson County Nature Center’s
Howlin’ Halloween Hike – Spooky Sidekicks on Friday, October 23rd from 5-7 p.m.

Several hike times will be offered, where families will make several stops to watch educational skits
performed by volunteer actors to learn about animals that sometimes get a spooky reputation. The hike
is designed to be fun and welcoming for children, rather than scary.

Before or after their hike, families can explore activity stations at the Nature Center. They can meet a
live snake, search the Nature Playscape in a scavenger hunt, and turn in a completed hunt card for a
prize. Children can also dig through Halloween slime for toys, play a game of Frog and Toad Toss, and
make a beaded snake to take home.

“Families can enjoy the season together while learning that some of nature’s so-called spooky creatures
are pretty amazing,” said Amy Heibult, community relations coordinator of the Dickinson County
Conservation Board.

Families will meet at the nature center for the hike time they registered for from the following choices:
5:15; 5:30; 5:45; 6:00 p.m.
