Estherville Community Bands Concert

Monday, April 17, 2023 – 7:30PM – Estherville VFW

The Northwest Iowa Concert Band, directed by Rich Nicklay, and the Northwest Iowa Jazz Band, directed by Scott Benjamin, will present their spring concert, Monday, April 17, 7:30 p.m. at Estherville VFW, 314 South 1st St. Free Admission. The VFW offers easy access to the building and adequate parking. The VFW will be serving a burger Basket (beef, pork) meal, starting at 6pm and going throughout the concert. 

Volunteer members are from 15 cities, up to 70 miles away. Estherville, Emmetsburg, Superior, Spirit Lake, Okoboji, Milford, Armstrong, Ringsted, Bode, Algona, Humboldt, Corwith, Hardy, Swea City, Wallingford, Ruthven, Jackson (MN). 

The program music will include concert band classics “The Circus King” by C. E. Duble, “In A Persian Market” by Albert W. Ketelbey, “La Paloma-the Dove” and a medley of tunes written by Irving Berlin. The jazz bands selections will include Carole King’s “Jazzman,” Lennie Niehaus “Double Dribble,”, “A String of Pearls” and “Moondance” by Van Morrison.  The community bands are partially sponsored by Excel! Estherville, a non-profit corporation and affiliated division of the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce.
